A Tribute In Loving Memory of Dr. Rosa Pearl Burnham

 

With heavy hearts, we bid farewell to an extraordinary individual, Dr. Rosa Pearl Burnham. A remarkable co-founder and Vice President of Administration for The National Diversity Collaborative, Rosa dedicated her life to the art of making memories. Rosa’s journey was a testament to her unwavering commitment to excellence. She was not only an esteemed educator but a true scholar/practitioner, leaving an indelible mark on everyone she touched. Her thirty years of experience spanned government, education, and corporate realms, where she rose to senior management and operational levels with remarkable grace and acumen.

In the world of academia, Rosa’s impact was immeasurable. Her expertise touched countless lives as she facilitated courses encompassing a wide array of subjects, from Human Resource Management, to Leadership to Social Justice (Race, Class & Gender). Her innovative approach always included the vital elements of diversity, acknowledging the evolving landscape of our society. As a mentor and guide, Rosa served on dissertation committees, often as chair, offering her wisdom and support to aspiring scholars. She was a program administrator, an advisor, and a lead instructor, leaving no stone unturned in her pursuit of fostering new leaders.

Rosa’s journey was one of many firsts, breaking barriers and paving the way for others. She made history as the first Black person appointed to a senior-level position, co-managing a staggering $3 billion departmental annual budget. Her accomplishments were a testament to her unwavering determination and trailblazing spirit. Beyond her illustrious career, Rosa was a devoted mother of two, a loving mother-in-law, and the proud grandmother of three cherished grandchildren—Tre’, Dominique, and Jasmyn. Her family was her heart, and her legacy lives on through them.  As we mourn the loss of Dr. Rosa Pearl Burnham, we remember her not only for her professional achievements but also for her warmth, kindness, and the profound impact she had on the lives of so many. She will forever remain in our hearts, an inspiration to us all.
